Time machine

For so many years now people have been imagining traveling through time to find out the future or even change the past. There are so many theories on how the time travel works, or if paradoxes even exist. I cant lie, I'm one of those who have imagined such an adventure. And it didn't matter if it involved a flux capacitor, or magical doorways in the middle of the ancient ruins. I love letting my imagination take me places.

But what I didn't realize was that I already own a time machine of sorts.
Every time I sit down to write, or edit what I've already written, I have to jump through events of the story. One moment my protagonists are hating each other, and next - they are working together, or haven't even met.

It might seem silly that I'm realizing this only now, but the thing is - I'm a pantser. My stories tend to be already there, in my mind, when I start to write. I let the characters dictate the story, not the other way round.
I tried being the puppeteer and realized it doesn't work. If anything, that's a recipe for disaster, resulting in me banging my head against the wall. So now, I'm a content overseer, who loves experiencing the story through my characters.
So how did I come up with the time machine realization, you ask me? Well, the fault lies in NaNoWriMo.

I've never participated. But this year I decided - what the hell. So what if I'm working 10 hours/day and then coming home to my two kids; so what if I'm a perfectionist who can't write a sentence if it's not perfect. I'm doing it!

I don't know if I'll manage to write 50k in 30 days, but I'll definitely try.
No grammar, no editing, no ... just writing (just like this blog post was born - I started wit time machines, and ended with NaNoWriMo... two topics that don't have much in common, or so it would seem).
​And since I imagine it will be hard for me to ignore my desire to edit, or to think through the dialog before putting it down, I decided to have a rough outline of my book.
Another first for me!

As you can probably see, I'm not done yet. But come November, it's going to be a different sight.
